Gather What's Yours.

You've taken classes, tried techniques, and admired other artists' work, yet nothing has quite felt like yours.  But your unique work is definitely there, waiting to be uncovered.

The days of hopping from style to style are over.   It's time for your explorations to take root and see what grows.

Seed to Blossom is an iterative path to uncovering what matters to you, and discovering what marks, techniques, and colors feel like yours.  The result is an emerging process reflecting you alone.

Find Your Process

We will work through the stages, challenges, and decisions every artist meets when birthing a process and letting it grow.

  • One iteration at a time, we will "gather the gold"--all of those clues about what you love--and consciously collect and employ them

  • You will choose a limited palette so all of your paints, collage papers, and mark-making materials work together harmoniously

  • Through experimentation, you'll locate the mark-making tools you connect with and find the ones that fit the work you want to make

  • While exploring and experimenting, we will use glazing, collage, and layering to give us a sense of how complex or in-depth this work will be

  • You will learn to evaluate what comes next, spot problems, and then gain the techniques to solve them

  • We will also go through the challenges of scaling up, assessing different substrates, and then adapting our process to larger sizes and different surfaces.

FAQ

  • Is the class live or online?

Seed to Blossom is a go-at-your-own-pace, pre-recorded class and is available to you online whenever best suits your schedule. You can go as slowly or as quickly as you like, and revisit any lessons at any time. For best results, taking your time with it produces optimal results.

  • Will I have Lifetime Access to the class?

You will have unlimited access for the lifetime of the course + 1 year. That means that if I ever need to remove the course, all enrollees will be notified that they have 1 year access remaining. (By the way, I have absolutely no plans to take down this course.)

  • If I don't like the course, can I get a refund?

Yes, I do offer refunds under certain conditions. You can read all about my refund policy by following the link at the bottom of this page or find it on my website at https://www.marabethquinart.com/refund-policy.

  • I don't have much experience with mixed media. Will the class be too advanced for me?

Jump on in! I teach techniques thoroughly and you can learn as you go. I would suggest going through the class once to learn techniques, and then again to focus on finding your own process through experimentation. The longer you do it, the better the results.

  • English is not my first language. Are there English subtitles?

Yes, I have supplied English subtitles for those that want them. You can turn them off or on by clicking the 'cc' in the lower part of your video screen while viewing a lesson in class.

  • I've tried many times to find my own style. Why would I be successful by taking this class?

The method I teach in this class is the one that I used to find my own process in both botanicals and landscapes, so I believe in it. I have no doubt that it will work for anyone, but the necessary component is your dedication to the journey of it. Finding your process isn't a quick or easy venture, but if you stick with it, it is rewarding and fun on every level. And you find work that looks like you.

Marabeth Quin

Instructor

I’m Marabeth Quin, a mixed media collage artist who is dedicated to merging technical mastery with a deep understanding of the emotional/mental influences that shape artistic expression. I love to help fellow artists uncover the critical connection between their potential and their capacity to embrace the sometimes chaotic path of creation because that's what has helped me to keep growing and learning. My classes foster resilience, embracing imperfection, and cultivating self-compassion as foundational pieces of the artistic journey.
